I've decided to blog about my journey in planning my own wedding. I thought I'd start with the day it all began, they day my best friend proposed:
In the first week of October 2011, we drove down to Cape Town for a much needed holiday and the highlight of that holiday was to see our favourite band, Coldplay, live. But before we got that big event, Reinard had sneakily booked us into the Western Cape Reserve, which is about 1 1/2 hours drive up the West Coast. He told me we were going to stay with some family ( I didn't know any better, as he has a fairly big family and I know I haven't met them all). The reserve is really beautiful, with all natural greenery and lots of wildlife. Once we settled into our house, we took a drive around the reserve, and decided to go for a walk on the sand of this amazing lagoon. Really, it felt like we were in Greece! It was the perfect day, warm sun, no wind, small waves crashing, and maybe 5 other people sharing the beach, but very far from us. We came to this beautiful rock, where we decided to sit a while and enjoy the surroundings. Reinard came and sat next to me, and after a few minutes, and leant over and whispered in my ear, "Will you marry me?" he then pulled out this gorgeous ring and put it on my finger. I think I said, "Seriously?" or "Really?" and then shed a few tears and said,"Yes, of course!".
